Goal + Impact:  At art_works, creating an art program is a gesture that involves much more than putting art on a wall—it's an opportunity to speak to people, places, and values.

In addition to sourcing artists from New England, the artworks in Alexan Peabody’s art program reflect the concept of home, enhancing spaces where residents can linger, reflect, and connect with their environment.

Two works anchor the program in an unexpected dialogue: Mary Hughes' circular tondo paintings, with their meandering lines evoking topographical maps and nautical charts, speak across the room to Crystalle Lacouture's Where We Meet — a bold composition of undulating waves and a circular sun. Though distinct in their approaches, both artworks share a visual language rooted in the motif of the wave.

Elsewhere, Merill Comeau's mixed-media works convey the warmth of domesticity through repurposed materials, exploring memory, endurance, and the many moments that make up a life. Cicely Carew's Kinetic print introduces a spirit of joy and discovery, energizing the space with dynamic shapes, layers, and vibrant color. Hannah Jacoby-Brooks and Michael Zachary round out the collection, complementing each other’s material investigations within the medium of paper — Jacoby-Brooks through her surreal intaglio prints, and Zachary through his luminous CMYK crosshatch landscapes that blur the line between the digital and the handmade.
