We aim to create opportunities for people to encounter artists and artwork outside typical settings. Through pop-up exhibitions in unexpected spaces, behind-the-scenes studio features, and artist spotlights in media, we celebrate emerging voices and experimental practices while inviting broader audiences into conversation with contemporary art. These activations reflect our ongoing interest in how art lives in the world: responsive, accessible, and deeply tied to community.
Exhibitions
Our ongoing exhibition practice transforms unconventional spaces into sites of connection and discovery. By highlighting emerging artists and fostering meaningful dialogue around their practices, these temporary projects celebrate art's role in building community. Each exhibition reflects our belief that art should be responsive, accessible, and joyful—inviting participation and sparking conversation beyond traditional gallery walls.
Studio Visits
Since 2017, art_works has collaborated with 1,000+ artists across the United States and Canada. Community is at the heart of our mission, and time in artist studios is an ongoing cornerstone of our practice. Our behind-the-scenes series spotlights some of the wonderful people we have had the joy of working with over the years, providing further visibility for their practices on both social media and website platforms.
Artist Profiles
By reframing our advertising space in Boston Art Review, we created a "Featured Artist Series" to highlight emerging artists generating excitement in the Boston art scene. Each feature transforms traditional advertising space into a platform for storytelling—pairing striking imagery with thoughtful writing to celebrate emerging voices and experimental practices.
